Runtime Error with popup windows in IE6

K

Ken Smith

I'm getting a script error on every popup window from IE.
When the error occurs, an error dialog box appears and
just the frame of a new window that's frozen appears. I'm
running IE6 on XP. The line number of the error varies
from page to page and the variable name changes to. I
know there is nothing wrong with the target web sites as
I can use several other computers with no problems.

Here's the message:
A Runtime Error has occurred.
Do you wish to Debug?

Line: xx
Error: 'yyy' is null or not an object

Any help on how to fix this would be most appreciated.

Maybe I can help,

I was also getting script errors( two to be exact ) on
every page traversal for one particular site. I took a
clue from a reply to another posting on helping to
eliminate popups and downloaded SPYBOT from
www.downloads.com( this is freeware ). As always set a
system restore point, so that you can reset your system to
a known good state if any anomalies appear after the
install. Installation of SPYBOT is easy and crisp. Read
its tutorial after the install(it doesn't take long) and
then run it. Look at the list of generated spyware or
adware that it detects. (NOTE: you will probably want to
keep some of the entries that correspond to Microsoft
itself) Uncheck the entries you wish to keep and let
SPYBOT clean up the rest. I went back to the same site
causing the script errors, and none have reappeared! It
appears that the entities discoverd by this product, were
to blame for the page corruptions we've experienced. We
all will probably have to apply this product on a regular
basis in order to keep our systems functioning properly.

Give it a try
Hope this helps
