Runtime Error opening Word email attachments.

Mike

When I try to open some email attachments I get the message, "Runtime Error.
C:\ Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\WINWORD.EXE. Abnormal Program
Termonation.
This has only started in the last three months and is happening more
frquently. I'm opening the emails in Outlook Express with Word 2002 using
Widows XP. Any assistance to resolve this issue would be much appreciated. I
have tried lowering the security setting in
Word/Tools/Options/Security/Macros, without success.

Maybe I spoke too soon! Same thing happened again today so I deleted both
normal.dot files, but this time for some reason it hasn't worked and I still
get the same 'Runtime Error' message and the attachment closes.

Do you have any other suggestions?

Cheers, Mike.

I had the same problem and found the solution. (I'm posting so this might help others who find this thread through google).

If you still get the Runtime Error after removing Normal.dot, you can try to remove the "Microsoft Works in Word Suite Add-in":
