Runtime Access 2007 deployment

Kevin

Hi,

I downloaded both the runtimes and Developer extensions for my registered
version of MS-Access 2007 and all are installed. When creating an MSI in
MS-Access 2007 the wizard ask me for the location of the runtimes (since I
elected to include the runtimes) but I have no idea since the installer
didn't say where they were installed.

Can anyone tell me where they are installed?

Thanks,
Kevin

Do a search for msaccess.exe on your machine.

Actually, you download the runtime, you DO NOT install it!!

So, the location of the runtime is exactly where you saved it.

You REALLY don't want to install the runtime on a machine that has the full
version of ms-access. You can be "thankful" the installer was smart and does
NOT overwrite your "full" version of ms-access (you would have effective
blown out the full version of ms-access on your computer if the installer
was not smart).

So, no, you DO NOT want to install the runtime on your machine (what good
would that do!!!).

So, simply download the runtime, and save the file somewhere. That location
where you saved the runtime is where you point the package wizard to when it
asks for the runtime.

That runtime does not (and should not) be installed on your computer unless
you don't have access on that computer....

I talk about updating your runtime applications after it been installed in
the following article:

Er, what did you mean by that, Albert? Of course you have to install
the runtime if you want to actually run an Access application in it.
The location of the runtime *installer* is where you saved it, but
the runtime itself will be installed in the standard location for
Access, unless you choose some other location.

He is talking about his development machine, not the target install machine.
So, the person instead of downloading and saving a copy of the runtime
(which the package wizard needs), the person "ran that" runtime install
which will NOT solve his question. Installing the runtime on a machine that
already has the full version of ms-access does not accomplish anything of
use...
Of course you have to install
the runtime if you want to actually run an Access application in it.

Read the question again! OP is NOT asking about installing the runtime, they
asking where is the runtime located on their development box that the
package wizard ***asks*** for when building the install.

If you "install" the runtime, then you don't have a copy on your machine
that the package wizard needs....
