running program not shown

I have this bizzard problem with a program that was just working fine
yesterday. Today when I started the program, I could see it on the
taskbar, but nothing was there on the main desktop screen. The program
is no doubt running, which I could see under Task Manager as well. Any
ideas?

I also noticed in another program, the toolbar icons within the
program no longer display, but when I move a cursor over to the blank
space where the icons should be, there is still help text to it. I
don't know if these 2 problems are related.

Yes. It's probably offscreen. Try this:

With the program open, right click on its taskbar icon, then type "M" for
Move, and then uUse the arrow keys to move the offscreen program window
onscreen

If this doesn't work then this is probably because the window isn't
offscreen but sized to 0x0. In that case, repeat, but use S for size instead
of M.

Is the program Quicken, by any chance? It happens with other programs too,
but Quicken seems to be especially prone to it.
