rundll32.exe

This hasn't seemed like a "problem" to me, but it's more
annoying than anything. When I restart my comp, the "not
responding" box always comes up saying
that "rundll32.exe" isn't responding and so I have to end
task..

First, I don't know what the rundll32.exe does, but I
went to search for it, and I found it and it's there and
I scanned it with Norton.. doesn't seem to be corrupted,
as far as I know. This is just really annoying and I'd
like to make sure it runs correctly.

Anyone have any pointers?

What does a scan with a current antivirus program
(meaning a version not
earlier than 2002 and using updated virus definitions)
show? Also,
remove spyware with Spybot Search & Destroy from
www.safer-networking.org and Ad-aware from
www.lavasoftusa.com. Be sure
to update these programs before running them. These
programs are free,
so run them both since they complement each other. It is
best to run
antivirus and spyware removal tools in Safe Mode. You may
also need to
run CWShredder from
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/index.html .
Please read the instructions carefully. A great resource
for dealing
with spyware is http://www.spywareinfo.com. Also, make
sure you've
visited Windows Update and applied all security patches.
Make sure you
are running a firewall.

How interesting to find my own advice copied and pasted without
attributing the source. Of course, the person who did this was
"anonymous". To the original poster, the suggestion is still good
because usually the rundll32 error does come from spyware that isn't
exiting. After you clean up your computer, if you need more help then
repost. Be sure to tell us what you did to troubleshoot.
