I am wondering why more than one rundll32.exe file is
showing up in task manager/processes?

Hi!
If a computer was infected more the once, as can happen when using
shared folders across a network, the Run32.exe file will have been be
overwritten with an infected copy of the Rundll32.exe.you must delete
the Run32.exe and the Rundll32.exe files and then extract an new copy of
Rundll32.exe from a clean back up or from the XP CD.

Rundll32 is the program used to run a DLL library file as if it were a
program. There may be several such dlls being run in this way.
Unfortunately Task manager can get no further than the host program, not
to the dll concerned. One example would be running shimgvw.dll to
preview picture files
