rundll32.exe and popup ads.

Kal Ebretto

After I start my computer, after certain intervals of
time with or without IE open, I get several popup ads.
rundll32.exe eventually errors and has to be closed.
After that, no more popups occur. On a search, I found
11 rundll32.exe.hexidecimal.pf files in the
Windows/Prefetch folder and rundll32.exe in
Windows/System.

Neither Spybot Search & Destroy nor Norton AntiVirus find
anything. I wouldn't be as annoyed if the ads didn't
switch me out of HalfLife and cause HL's sounds to not
play.

Hello,

I have seen this similar problem before on one of my
clients PC's, I install ADWARE 6.0 (downloads.com) and
this fixed the problem....but be aware of what you want
and don't want quarantined.

Thanks, but it didn't fix the problem.

It did, however, help me find what's doing it. And I
can't remove the .dll, only the copy that's made if a
copy doesn't exist upon restart. aaaamon.dll and
aaaamon.cpy.dll. aaaamon.dll is in use at all times, so
I can't remove/rename/copy/do anything with it...It has
no Version tab in the properties, unlike everything else
I've checked.

Anyone know how to remove it?
