Rundll32 error message

Many times when I close a program, Windows and 3rd party one, I get this
'Windows host process (Rundll32) has stopped working' message. How can I
stop this annoying message popping up?

I did once install Nero program but deleted all files whenever 'Nero' or
'Ahead' included. But I can not get rid of 'Nero Show Time' comes up as a
possible video opening program!!

Any advice would be appreciated.

Upgrading to a later build of Nero fixed the rundll problem for me.
I've got 7.7.5.1 now.

I also had some problems caused by having Nero's video codec and DivX
both installed (notably: playback of AVI files at half speed video
while sound remained at full speed.)
Uninstalling DivX fixed that, and Nero decodes them just as well (also
in media player, I don't use ShowTime but I'm still using Nero's
codecs).

BTW, to get rid of ShowTime you have to *uninstall* Nero, not just
delete some files.

Thanks for your advice but I do not intend to use Nero at the moment. I did
uninstalled the program and then deleted some related lines in the registry.

P.S. I clean installed Vista Business version several weeks ago and am
finding some probelms everyday!! I wish now I bought Vista after SP1 or 2
had been issued!

I don't know if it has any bearing on your problem, but I had major
rundll32 trouble on a brand new HP machine and Vista H P.

Did an online chat with HP about it, seems that enabling thumbnails
view in folders with video files in it was the cause.

Not wanting to disable thumbnail view, we proceded with the chat
sessions.

Here's the link to the online chat application:

Nice people, easy way to fix things. (Might take a little time to
connect, so be patient. Also, if you're blocking pop-ups, you might
have to bypass that, but the page will give you a bypass button).

Here's the patch they sent me to fix the rundll32 errors I was
getting. I guess the cause was using the thumbnail view in a folder
with assorted videos in it.

First, I had to download the installer:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...en&dlc=en&softwareitem=pv-48265-1&style=popup

Then I had to download the patch:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...&cc=us&dlc=en&product=3347740&os=2093&lang=en

Again, this worked for my system, might not for you.

Hope I gave back.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately it did not work on my computer - maybe
because it's not HP computer. Hopefully Microsoft will come up with a
similar general patch soon.
