RUNDLL Error

R

RumRunner

I get the following message every 2 minutes on the dot:

RUNDLL
Error loading winupd.dll
The specified module could not be found.

or sometimes the winupd.dll is wincore.dll

This error message started yesterday afternoon and as of
today the message pops onto my screen literally every 2
minutes. It does not hinder useage of my computer (there
is no slowing or anything) it's just EXTREMELY annoying
to have this error pop up every 2 minutes and then click
ok to make it go away.

I have been all through MS support areas with no help
found. I have searched the Internet for help on this
specific problem and have found no solutions. I have
updated Norton and run it and have no viruses. I have
updated Spybot and have run it and have no perpetrators.
I have not loaded any new software recently, nor visited
any websites I do not normally visit. I did nothing out
of the ordinary (that I'm aware of) to open my computer
up to a problem from the outside.

I would appreciate any help or suggestions! Thank you!

That's associated with adware. Get rid of it.

Run these programs to check for spyware/malware. After installing
update them, then boot into safe mode and run them. You should run
update and run them weekly.

Spybot Search and Destroy

Bazooka Adware and Spyware Scanner

After your system is clean use these programs to help keep it clean:

Spywareguard

Thank you Will and Hilary! These solutions solved my
problem! I guess having Spybot alone was not enough.
Thank you again!

Yep, often times it takes a combo of programs and running in safe mode.
Glad to hear you got it fixed and thanks for posting back.
