Jorge

I am running Windows XP Home SP2 in a toshiba satellite lap top, suddenly I
am getting the following error mesage during start up: "run time error 5
Invalid procedure call or argument". I have checked event viewer and every
day consistently since 12/05/07 an error has been registered with generated
at "DHCP".
Lap top runs fine but this error boders me and I do not know how to
troubleshoot it.
Any Ideas???

Hi Jorge,
Do you have Visio software installed or Old Office suite like Office2000
installed on XP operating system?.
"Run-time error '5': Invalid procedure call or argument" error message
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/264274

Open a run command and type in:
sfc /scannow click [OK] and let it run.
HTH.

Please pst a complete copy of The Error Report.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer.

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from
Event Viewer.

Hope this helps.

Shut your computer down. Switch off the power to your router. Wait 10
minutes, switch the power back on to router and start your computer.

Hi Gerry....I have done what you suggested and I still have the problem. I
think PC is trying to update something and cannot open the appropiate web
site to perform the update, I have noticed that this run time error sometimes
shows up way after windows has sarted, and now there is another error message
window showing up (" Internet Explorer cannot find the requested website
.....and so on...)

Thanks for your interest
Jorge
