"Run As" Error

L

lori

When a non-administrator is logged onto a computer set up
on a domain, and an administrator performs a "run as" to
a maped drive to install a program , an error message
occurs. The error falsely states that the file or file
name does not exist.
The administrator does have permission to install the
program from the mapped drive as well as access to the
mapped drive. This problem only pertains to XP machines
only while performing the run as command to a mapped
drive, the local c:\ allows the run as command. Even the
Domain Administrator recieves this error.

It is possible that your network drives are not mapped to
the same UNC location in the administrator's profile.

Solutions:
1. Type the actual UNC path in Windows Explorer address
bar, or the Run dialog (example \\storage\admin\software),
and have the administrator try to run as from there
2. Copy the files the administrator wants to run to a
temporary location on the hard drive (C:)
