Rules Problem Outlook 2000

In the "Rules Wizard/Reply Using" function I identify .oft templates I
created for use as automatic replies to information request emails. What is
actually being sent out is a blank email which contains the correct subject
but no text, and the stationery is on the outgoing emails as an attachment.
Everything else functions well. I have tried creating forms and templates as
different file types to no avail. I have tried creating forms rather than
templates but cannot then locate them among the available options in the
"Select A Reply Template" box because Personal Forms Library is not an
available choice. This seems a common use of the program but applicable
information is woefully inadequate. Help!

It looks to me like the rule is supposed to pop up a blank message of the
given .oft, and you are supposed to fill it in. Are they being sent
automatically due to some condition after you select the form template?

By the way, what version of Outlook are you using? Are you in a
stand-alone environment, or are you using an Exchange server?

I solved the problem when I noted in one of the many "how to" web postings
that I had to first format my saved message template as plain text. I then
had to save as an Outlook Template and save in the Templates file. I could
then locate and choose it from the rules wizard. The key was in saving as
plain text rather than html. To answer your question, Hollis, I am in a
standalone environment and was converting from Eudora which became
dysfunctional (no messages would send through the server). As compared to
Eudora, the automatic reply function in Outlook required about two weeks of
frustration as it is not intuitive at all. Eudora took two minutes to set up
an automatic reply. Now that it is functional, I am happy with Outlook.
Thanks for your help.
