Rules for Group Mailboxes

When I set up rules for a group mailbox it says (client-only). Is there way
I can apply rules to a group mailbox to automatically delete unwanted
messages from that mailbox?

What does the rule say? Some rules are client-only, some aren't.

I'm going to guess you're trying a permanent delete, which afaik is a
client-side rule. Try a regular delete instead.

OK, I changed to a regular delete and it is no longer "client only", but is
still not automatic. Is there a way to auto-delete on a group mailbox
without having to go in and hit "run rules now"?

Well, strictly speaking, it should be automatic, assuming the check mark..
oh wait, ...

When you set up this rule, you are signing into a profile that logs
*directly* into the mailbox, correct? Not just your mailbox with the group
mailbox opening as an extra mailbox?
