RPC service don't start up: access denied

Hi!

On my XP SP2 I went offline (WLAN) and couldn't reconnect to my
access-point. So I restarted the machine.
But know, the RPC service does not start up, so many other programs or
services won't also startup. If I start it manually I get the message "RPC
service count not be started up on local computer. Error 5: access is denied".
I could NOT open the properties of the service to change the account
settings, in the event log I could NOT open a message with a double click.

I ran a chkdsk /f where thousands of files were corrected with "standard
sett..." the row was to small and the scroll to fast. So I don't know what
happened.

At the moment I run a chkdsk with BART-PE-boot -cd and next I'll take a
start in safe mode. I started into safe-mode this morning, already, but after
approve to start XP the screen was black with a blinking cursor in the upper
left corner of the screen, so no xxx.sys messages resp. rows were shown.

Very strange. Could anybody help me?

I'm only going to reply to where you can get a log of chkdsk. Open up control
panel.
Choose adminstator tool, choose event viewer, choose application. Look for
source Winlogon and select it. That will have a log of chkdsk you ran.
Hopefully you ran chkdsk with automatically fix errors and scan for and
attempt recovery of bad sectors. If not you can rerun it.

Hopefully you have virus protection if not you can get it free from:

For sure I have an antivirus :) It's kaspersky alreday ;-)

I've restored the workstation, had it connectec with my Windows Home Server
CTP and restored it without any problems. No data lost. WHS -> cool solution.

Thank you!
