Hey folks, Is it possible to get the blaster worm running XP Home SP2? I have
run (in safe mode) the symantec blaster worm fix tool; the microsoft
malicious software remover; spybot search and destroy; i have a dell
subsciprtion to antivirus stuff and everything say nothing found - in safe
mode
s nothing found. i cannot edit the services properties in safe mode. i get
the pop up and behaviour exactly like what is shown/described in 2003

it takes about 10 minutes to reboot and i do not have enough time to get to
a dos prompt to do a shutdown -a or anything before it reboots/

Dell 4700 XP Home SP2 512RAM all "stock" except for a new additional hard
drive 3 months

Have you tried to restore? Even if it takes you back to where you have to
install recent applications. I reccomend Advanced System Optomizer for
Backup/Restore - never fails. Can't say the same for Window Restore feature.

Delete all your temp files - Internet Temp, Prefetch, Windows Temp, and
History.

In MSConfig - Startup tab, look for suspicious entries (Start, run, type
MSCONFIG, enter). If not sure of the entry - Google for an explanation.

A few suggestions, hopefully a solution.

I would try restore - FIRST. Especially since a lot of other things have been
tried already.
