RPC Causes System To ShutDown

When accessing the internet to check emails using MS
Outlook (full version) or using AOL instant messanger
through a dial-up ISP I receive a message RPC-Remote Proc.
Call 1 minute to shutdown. I checked the properties of
the RPC service and by default it is set to restart the
system when it fails. Is there something I can check to
see why the RPC service fails and what I can do to correct
the problem.

Sounds like you have the blaster32 worm.

Roger - I would also encourage you to enable a firewall on your system.

This is included in WindowsXP. Search the online help for 'firewall' and
choose the topic titles 'Enable or disable Internet connection firewall'

This will make your system safer.
