roving margins

I am working with an 800 plus page Word document. The margins keep changing
on me. I have tried selecting the entire document then going to "Page Set
UP" and setting the margins. This does not change anything, including the
existing margins. The only way I can change them is to select the document
then drag the margin cursors on the "Ruler." That has to be a better way to
get my margins to stay in place. HELP!

When you changed the margins in Page Setup, did you remember to choose
"Whole document" for "Apply to"?
