When I right-click on my photos in thumbnail view, one of the options is to
rotate the photo clockwise. Is this a "lossless" rotation?

thanks...

==================================
On certain image sizes, it is supposed to be
lossless. (sorry, I don't recall the sizes)

If you require lossless rotation of .jpg image
files...the excellent freeware IrfanView has
that option.

IrfanView 3.85

(get the plug-ins too)

With XP, rotating the image will be lossless if the picture dimensions
(pixels) is an exact multiple of 16 and probably 8. So if your image is,
say, 2048 x 1360 it will be lossless. This is the technical part. But not
entirely true for small image size if you are concerned about preserving
quality.
The bottom line with XP is simple. Click on the rotate button. Do you get a
warning that degradation may occur if you rotate? If no warning, go ahead
and rotate. If yes, think about it, you may see some degradation
particularly when you print larger than 6 x 4.
