<ROOTSTUB/7

Running Win. XP Pro. Multiboot with Spysweeper & McAfee for virus protection.

A New folder recently appeared in My Documents. It’s named EVONIRG9. When I
open the folder there is XML file named oWindowsUpdate [1] and when I click
on this, it opens and shows just one word: <ROOTSTUB/> The address is J:\My
Documents\UserData\EVONIRG9

I Googled <ROOTSTUB/> & found lots of tech data but still don’t know where
it came from or why it’s in the “My Documents†folder or what I should do
with it.

Can some one tell me if it’s safe to delete this folder or if It belongs
some other place, should I just move it?

-Any advice will be appreciated-

I *think* the oWindowsUpdate[1].xml files are related to the settings
one has chosen on the Windows Update website via the " Change settings "
link in the left frame.
So, if you want to test this theory, move the .xml files to the Recycle
Bin and revisit Windows Update.
Frankly speaking, the files are small in size, are in the correct
location on your system, and you should just leave them alone ;)

Thank you Mo Green, Just read your reply today and started to check your
theory, but discovered the <ROOTSTUB/7 folder had disappeared from the "My
Documents" folder. Don't know where it went but if not a virus or hijacker I
think I just won't worry about it.

Thanks again for your reply.
