Robot Wars Extreme and colours

I got my son the RW game (the second one) a while back and with the
8500 some levels had this weird colour effect where it looked like the
arena was bathed in disco lights.

Having gone up to the 9800 (and various driver updates), he has only
just recently tried out the game again. The dreadful colours have gone
and the game looks hugely better. (Having appeared on Extreme 2 in
real life, I have grave doubts about realism, but then again I'm not
getting two years of work smashed up in 3 minutes!)

Has anyone else noticed odd colour effects on any games?

I played that game just fine on my Mobility Radeon 9000 last year. It was
somewhat sluggish game tough, but neat to build up robots and smash them up.
Nope never had such a problem with any card.

Yes, I have noticed some odd yellow lighting at times, never sure if meant
to be a deliberate effect, but otherwise running OK on 9000 PRO AIW 1800XP,
W98SE.

Have occasionally had problems where changing the default resolution from
640 x 480 causes lockup on loading. Currently on 800 x 600 OK though. (And a
bit odd to have to find that setting under ADVANCED not under DISPLAY!).

The 115b patch may have helped - can't really remember!

This was a really intense disco effect; all sorts of colours. As
everything else was fine, I thought that it must be deliberate (in
real life the lights are very brightly coloured there). I'm glad it's
gone as it was horrible.
