roaming profile problem

Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone has encountered a problem with roaming profiles
where a certain user cannot download their roaming profile on only one
computer. To give more information, the pc was reset while saving the profile
to the server. Now the profile is incorrect (does not match, or is not the
same as the server profile).

We are running Active Directory in a Windows Small Business Server 2003
Domain. All workstations are running xp sp2, and there is a backup domain
controller running 2000 Advanced Server. The domain is obviously running in
2000 native mode. Hopefully this gives enough information to help.

thanks in advance,

a quick fix might be to delete the rpofile that is sitting in the
workstation (the problem one) and try to login again.
The system will download again from the server.

I tried this already, it's driving me crazy. I believe it might be something
in the registry or possibly a SID problem. Tried to copy registry settings
from a computer that was loading the roaming profile correctly (exported and
then imported). This did not resolve the issue.

Specifically, it is giving me problems loading the profile. Gives me an
access denied message. Checked access rights on user profile, and they seem
to be set right. I'll keep plugging at it. But, I still have not found a
resolution.

Another quick way you ca try is:
- rename the original profile on the server
- delete the profile from the workstation

make the user log on the workstation. The system will see him as a new user
with no profile an create the default profile on the workstation and then
move that one to the server.
Once it is on the server (user loffed off) copy the original files inside
the newly created profile.

see how that works.

Rafael,

Thanks for sticking by me. Your information was very helpful.

In fact what I ended up doing was deleting both the server copy and the
local copy of the profile, after backing it up in a different location of
course. This did in effect what you suggested.

thanks again,
