Roaming logon using windows XP peer to peer networking

BOB

Hi,

I have a 5 PC's networked using windows standard peer to peer networking. I
sometimes need to shift people around and tried setting up roaming user
accounts all pointing to a common file server using 'u:\users' or
'\\server\users\joe' etc. Unfortunately this does not appear to work as I
get a "could not log you on using roaming profile .... using local
account..." and "network not accessable or not yet started" error.

The windows "HELP!" (yawn) leads me nowhere and does MS KB. Any clues? Am I
attempting the impossible or do I have to add some net start command to some
unknown start up file or registry?

Appreciate any help offered.

Hi Bob.

Unfortunately you are attempting the imposable. you need to be running a
domain to use roaming profiles.
