RMJ files Vs WMA

If MS is so keen to make Windows Media 9 the prefered
choice for movies amd music then why is there no
conversion plugin in to convert real media 8 audio files
in to WMA.
If you read the focus groups on the net every one has this
problem. There was a time when the 'Real' product was far
superior to WM aned was the only viable option, we would
have never have used real juke box if we'd known how
unexportable the product was but now things have changed.
I have around six gig of legitimate music om my hard drive
all in RMJ and |I want to convert it all into WMA. 'Real'
are beligerent about this and often prosecute small
software houses who have attempted to make RMJ conversion
software. What makes it even more odd is the Real accepts
WMA encoding and tries everything it can to get you to
convert to RMJ
Surely if you want to increase your market share MS has
the muscle to take on 'Real' on behalf of it's loyal
customers. If I can rip MP3's in to WMA why can't I rip
rmj's. 'Real' won't even let you convert MP's unless you
upgrade. I already have burning software that I have
bought so why do I have to pay a premium to move a way
from a product that strangles your freedom.

You answered your own question...because Real will SUE anyone that
writes that software. It's illegal if you ever read the Real small
print. The onlything Real has going for it is that there's a fairly
small, but vocal, anti-MS bunch. But Real is stuck because that bunch
doesn't like Real all that much either.

My world is easy - MP3, WMA, WMV.
