Riprep Image - Blue Screen Stop Error

I am getting "A kernel thread terminated while holding a mutex" Stop
0x4000008a error when I try to image a machine. The image was created with
the same hardware using Riprep. The RIS server is Win2003 RTM and the
domain is Win2000. Even the default XP image that was put on the server
during Risetup gets the same error. I have successfully tested this image
on other hardware.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Rusty

Hi Rusty,

Do these computers have some unusual hardware?

You might try creating a new image that has XP SP1 slipstreamed into it:

1. Create a flat of Windows XP on the hard drive (the i386 folder),
2. Download SP1 and extract it to the drive.
3. Slipstream the flat image with the service pack.
4. Click Start>Run>RISETUP and create a service pack RIS image.
5. RIS a workstation.
6. Customize the workstation (avoid updating the file NTOSKRNL.EXE with your
patches)
7. Run RIPREP on the workstation.
8. Test RIS with that image.

No unusual hardware on the machines, the initial install of XP goes fine. I
am already using XP with SP1. You mentioned about NTOSKRNL.EXE, do you
think there is some issue with that?

Everything is integrated on the Microstar 6838 and the video is Trident
Blade 3D.
