ripping a mini-dvd

does anyone know the best method of ripping a re-writable mini-dvd? i want to
edit it using adobe premier pro 1.5, but the avi format i use does not play
well. Windows movie maker1 does not do it either? i tried ripping it into an
mpeg file but adobe premier plays it a very fast speed! help!

awesome.thanks! after reading those articles, i realise this is no easy feat..
..i dont feel so bad for what i went thru to get the format i wanted. dont
laugh! i imported the ripped clips into MM1 and saved them as a movie file.
then i imported them into adobe premier pro ,rendered it and imported it back
to premier! Now i can edit it! did that make some kinda sense, to anyone?
