Right-click "new" option to create an RTF document

I know how to create a document, then save it as RTF. I have found that is
is quicker for me to use the right-click method when I am in a folder, and
know that I want to create a document in that same folder, to use the
right-click method. As it is, however, this gives me the option to create a
..doc, a .docx, or a .txt file. Is there a way I can tweak the right-click
menu to allow me to create a new .rtf?

Hi Paul,

The Powertoy TweakUI allows you to create a Template for that.

Make sure you download the correct version.

How to add RTF files to the right-click "New" menu.

1. . Copy below and paste into Notepad.

----------copy inside only----------
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.rtf\ShellNew]
"NullFile"=""

----------copy inside only----------

2. Save-as RTF_New.reg (or any name + .reg)

3 Double-click or right-click and merge into the registry.

4. Refresh the Desktop a couple times to make it appear.

Thanks, Terry. That did it. I had to read a TechRepublic article on how to
create an RTF template (just opened up MS Word and saved a blank file as an
..rtf), but that was fairly easy.

I did the registry hack, but for some reason that didn't have any effect.
Thanks to you both, regardless.

You're welcome Paul. Take care,
