right click file in explorer "send to" does not work

I've set up a shortcut called "Outlook Recipients" in my "Send To" folder as
follows:

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\OUTLOOK.EXE" /c ipm.note

I'm running XP SP3 and Office 11 fully updated.

The option does show up in my right click menu. When I click the new option
nothing happens and when I click back over to Outlook to see what's up I get
this message:

"The command line argument is not valid. Verify the switch you are using."

I used to have this problem ocasionally in Win2kpro with office 11. But it
was rare. Under XP it doesn't work at all even after I rebooted my system.
Outlook is open and running.

Thanks,

Keith

The problem is that Outlook doesn't know what to do with the file it's being
sent. Outlook doesn't take a simple file name as a command argument without
also using a switch indicating that the file is there. In other words,

outlook.exe somefile

is an invalid command. If you add the "/a" command switch to the end, it
will work (does for me). Use this target:

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11\outlook.exe" /a

("/c imp.note" is the default and doesn't need to be specified.)

Thanks Brian. I almost changed it to /a but didn't think I could do that
without specifying a file. Problem solved. From what you said it seems then
that using /c ipm.note should not have worked on my other machine either.
Can you tell me why it worked on my other machine? Most of the time it
worked fine.

The default Send To Mail Receipient will start Outlook if you have Outlook
set as your default mail program. Does that not work?

I don't know. Sorry.

You're right, it does, but that doesn't use Word as my email editor.

Why would you need that, since 1) Outlook's editor can handle HTML and 2)
you're sending a file, not an originally composed message.

Mostly it's because I'm usedt to that as the editor. I have things set up
there the way I like them and what I'm used to. Also, if I open up an email
your way, I cannot go back to Outlook until I hit SEND on the message.
Outlook considers it an "open dialog box" and wont' let me back until it's
closed. I often have one or more messages open that I'm working on at a
time. Can't do that your way AFAIK.

That doesn't seem to be the case for me.
