Right click and look up dictionary?

I'm looking for a freeware that will do the following:

When I read an article and see a word I don't understand, I would like
to right click the mouse, select "Dictionary" from the context menu and
this will take me to a dictionary where I can see the meaning of that
word.

Is there such an animal?

Thanks! -Tivoli0

Install FireFox and get the dictionary extension to preform that
task. Same in the companion email client Thunderbird.

You won't be sorry. Take your time and all will go well.

Hi all,

Thanks for the info!
That will do. -Tivoli0

Note that with Mark Warner's excellent suggestion all you have to do is
to (when viewing a document in *any* program) is select the word you
want to define and copy it to the clipboard. Next, start WordWeb and
there will be the definition (assuming the word is spelled correctly)
for that word.

In my setup, WordWeb is in my startup folder (which is the install
default). Highlight the word and click the icon in the systray. Bingo!

Mark,
I had forgotten that having WordWeb run in the tray was possible.
It's probably a good idea in XP too. However, since I'm using ME I tend
to be very stingy regarding system resources.

I use Wordweb. It uses a hot key rather than a context menu, currently
CTRL+ALT+W but changeable, and allows replacement of the highlit word
in an editor or wordprocessor if you have spelt it incorrectly. I find
its suggestions for misspellings are generally reasonable and the
definitions are accurate.

....and, the last step (if appropriate) is to revise the spelling (if found
incorrect), or choose a better word (e.g., from the 'synonyms' list), and
simply replace the original word (with one click on the 'replace' button).
A jewel of a program ... and free!

Regards...
