Anyone any experience with Richer Sounds? Looking for a TV 37 or 40 inch.

They seem to have some good deals but are they reliable, friendly, good on after sales and sorting faults?

I'm sure someone must have used them.

Also what is the difference when you see the same TV with different model numbers? For instance there is a 40 inch Samsung LE40 and I have seen Model C580, £599 at Tesco, Model B550 £499 at Richer Sounds and Model T368 £399 at Richer Sounds. All are 40 inch HD Ready 1080p with Freeview. So why the difference in price?

Take a look at AVSForum and AVforum. There's quite a lot of info on them regarding different TV's and why certain models are better than another and also common problems with them

I've heard richer sounds are quite good, have visited one of their shops and they were very helpful even though i didn't buy anything

I've been buying stuff from Richer Sounds since the year they opened at London Bridge, late seventies/early eighties I think.

They're good.

I recently bought a TV from them, it's a 37" LG 37LH4010 1080 res with 100Hz scanning; 3 x HDMI input. I had a budget of £400.00 but ended up spending £549.00 on this model after doing a little research.

As I wanted the TV primarily for the Xbox 360 and watching DVD movies I went for a machine with 1080 res and 100Hz scanning as this was beneficial for displaying fast moving games and movies accurately. And it does work well, very well indeed, I'm pleased with it.

200Hz scanning is even better but they cost a lot more money. As I recall, different reception options push the price up as well, HD reception being the latest technology.

For a similar television to the one I have but with all the latest extra gizmos it would have cost me around 750/800. But I rarely watch any TV programs.

And whilst I was researching my purchase it seemed to be the common consensus that the top of the range Panasonic series were the best. And also the most expensive.

I take the sound out from the optical output, use a converter to convert the sound to stereo analogue and feed it through my hi-fi, it's a huge improvement on the TV speakers.

I also took out their five year guarantee for 55 quid which is way cheaper than anything Currys, Dixons, Comet et al offer.

In the past Richer Sounds have repaired one item for me that was under guarantee. The staff never used to be pushy but as every retail outlet is suffering at the moment I've noticed the staff are a little more 'enthusiastic' about flogging their wares lately, which is a bit sad.

However, I'd recommend them without a pause, judging by my past experience with them.

And as a footnote a lot of their 'Hi-Fi' isn't really what I'd class as Hi-Fi. If you wish to buy audio equipment from them, a little research is in order.

Good all-round retailer and seem to give the personal touch that some of the bigger stores ie Currys, PCWorld, Dixons don't give anymore..
Always seem to have some sort of deal running and are happy to help you take your purchase out and help into your car..

Saying that they are notorious for having some deals which either have no stock or just don't seem to exist anywhere!

All in all though I think a 4/5 for this retailer.
