Retrieving Outlook files when user profile corrupted

Hi, I have Microsoft Vista and had message 'Your user profile was not
loaded' when logging on. I am unable to access my user profile and have had
to make a new one. Assuming that this profile has been corrupted I have
copied all of my files to a new profile name. How do I get my outlook files
(emails, contacts, calendar details etc) transferred to my new profile name?
When I try to open outlook under the original user profile the system opens
up a temporary profile and Outlook is of course empty!! Any help would be
much appreciated.

If your Outlook profile was not affected by your user profile problem, you
just need to find your .PST file and open it in Outlook using File | Open |
Outlook Data File. If you need to create a new Outlook profile, look here:

Have you tried a reboot? I had this message on my Tablet PC with Vista Ultimate and a simple reboot corrected the problem. There was apparently something funky in the startup that corrupted the profile.

Thanks Jocelyn, the information you provided allowed me to make a new
profile. I am unable to get into my Outlook through my old profile as the
system makes up a temporary profile and my outlook files are all empty. Is
there any way I can look for my .PST files via the C drive and where these
files might be hiding?

Thanks Milly, I did try rebooting with no success (see my email to Joceyln).
My concern is that this may happen again and I will once again lose all of my
personal files on Outlook. I have now installed Outlook backup assume this
can be downloaded to disc and reinstalled if this problem occurs again?
Thanks for your time with this one.

Try looking in C:\Users\username\AppData (where username is the name of your
Windows profile). I don't know if Vista hides this folder by default or not,
so you may have to either search for .PST files within hidden folders, or
enable viewing of hidden folders temporarily.
