Retrieving files on formatted hard drive

There was Windows XP on the hard drive. I removed its partitions and
formatted the drive installing Xubuntu on it. Now I have attached the
drive to a new computer with Windows Vista.

Is it any likely that I would be able to retrieve any of the old
Windows files on the drive? How would you do that?

I would think it unlikely that the data would be recoverable

but I'd seen a post recently where this would work:

http://www.munsoft.com/

(Easy drive data recovery)

I have never used it but since they have a free trial you don't risk much..

BTW: If you do use it could you please post back as I am curious as to
whether or not it actually works

Neither the "Easy File Undelete" program nor the "Easy Drive Data
Recovery" program seem to recognize any files on that drive, though
you would expect them to at least recognize the Linux partitions.

Addition: I also tried out the "Easy NTFS File Undelete", "Easy FAT
File Undelete", "Easy NTFS Data Recovery" and "Easy FAT Data Recovery"
versions, but none of them seemed to recognize any files or partitions
on the hard drive in question.
