Restoring Using SFC /scannow - Does Not Work

I've tried restoring my WinXP using sfc /scannow but I can not get it to work. Every time I try to use the I get an error message indicating that dll files are missing and need to be copied to the i386 folder...or I have the incorrect cd. I am using the orignal cd, have tried it in both drives and still the comand does not function.

Could this be an issue with Win XP thinking I am on a new machine? Sould I try to re-register my copy of XP? I have recently installed and replaced several compnents...however it has not asked me to reregister

The OEM vendor has gone out of business so any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi D Lamar,

Is your disk a 'recovery disk' or a 'OS disk'? You must use an 'OS disk' in order to run SFC.
