restoring AD

David F

i have a remote DC running Wins/DNS. the sysvol drive has gone out.
i have no redundancy on this particular drive as it is a separate
drive from my OS in general and i do not backup the system state on
this remote server.

i do have several other dc's available via the WAN and the WAN is
still accessible from the remote DC however none of the DC services
are starting.

since WAN is accessible is there a way to restore/recover this DC back
as into AD without rebuilding the OS?

thanks

If you still have DC's on your network, then you can simply just run dcpromo
and remove AD from that server and later add it back using dcpromo
procedure. You don't need to reinstall OS.
