Restore Points

There must be something I`m missing here. I see many posts/issues regarding
WD restore points and I cannot understand why the fuss? WD can and does make
what can be regarded as some critical changes to your system when it detects
changes, albeit, user or otherwise initiated. It follows, therefore, that
some record should be in place before/after those changes take place. Why
then should we be pessimistic or even critical. I seem to recall a posting by
one of the MSFT guys (much earlier into beta), in which this was regarded as
good policy to be adopted by MS and for the benifit of all. Why then, do we
have it posted as some sorty of buggy issue ? We should be grateful uncle
Bill G has our interests at heart - unless your HD space is very limted.

Stu,
While I don't have a specific problem with the multiple restore points,
though I do get them, I think the complaint was that new users who might
want to back out WD couldn't necessarily do that if the restore checkpoints
were so numerous as to have pre-WD points roll off the system before you
could restore to the pre-WD state, which is often the Ms recommendation in
dealing with the same or a similar situation.

Think I'll go get something stronger than coffee, and buy a larger HD to
accommodate my checkpoints... it's afternoon here now.

Back out of WD? Who could ever consider this option? It`s simply not an
option;)

What`s your poision?

Further to what I said. I see WD on my comp as being rather like a marriage -
preferrably not to the wrong woman. The alimony and outcome could be
significant;) Now there`s an angle. Why don`t we guys Beta test Women! Among
other things . For better or worse ..... in sickeness or in health.... until
death do us part. Although, I would rather dispense with that:) Said with the
greatest of respect to the lovely ladies reading this post...

Hi Stu.... ;)

Well, maybe also to use MS tactic with never ending "Betas".... ;)

or use Mozillas tactic with rapid development in several "branches" in
phases/milestones with a short *real* Beta period for each
development..
It ends up in a time limited final product with new developments
directly....

Who knows.... ;)

Hi Plun.

Yes. They certainly have enough in circulation at the moment and for over a
year now in some cases. Its become a pain to keep pace with developments;) I
see some people on here are not sure whether they are updated to where they
should be with WD. I sincerely hope MS becomes more transparent with what
they are incorporating in their defs and builds. If we are being encouraged
to `test` we should be given some indication of knowing what we are likely to
be letting ourselves in for. I guess there are those who will say; "Its Beta
software - you don`t have to install it". But I don`t think that is a very
valid argument. If we all took that view - no progress would be made and the
developers at MS would still be scratching the backs of their heads -
wondering if they are heading in the right direction;) It would be so very
nice (not to mention reassuring), to know what we are supposed to be
protected from and progress made. BTW took your advice awhile back re Ewido 4
- very nicely presented with lots of Tools/Mediums available thru which to
tweak. SiteAdvisor working great too.

Hi

Thumbs up !!

Well.... I can hear "Hells Bells" from every cleaning forum
within our "stupid" world so how cares ?

It´s hightime for a large user group to stop and think and maybe
understand todays junk world. Or maybe someone call tell them about
risks... On the pyramide top we have Google and MSN...

I have put on "blinkers" with Firefox 2.0 and Adblock including
a filter...and I recommends it for every user.

Really nice to surf without all stupid blinking banners and Googles
junk , MSN junk and the bad guys junk banners (they often both flashes
and blinks). I hope they can solve this mess.... of course I block and
remove every Tracking cookie... "Internet is a commercial platform". ;)

;)

Hi Tom

I guess you made the right choice with your software; ) Its so nice to hear
of accounts such as these. You must be a lucky man married to a great woman .
Who was it that once said that; "Behind every successful man there is a woman
driving him there." Look after her well and think of what Bill G has achieved
and why ;)

In the meantime there must be some who are wondering: "What has this got to
do with Restore Points"? Restoration being the key issue in any failed
marriage ;)

Hi Stu,

you has to restore on a regular basis, dont wait to long, the point is
if you wait to long that the restore points maybe are gone or
overwritten! ;)
