Restore point schedule not invisible

W

Wally Wombat

Hi, I have a minor problem.
I have recently built a new computer with XP SP3 and have scheduled a daily
restore point. I have no problem with this, it creates a point, however the
restore point entry window is always on the screen in the morning. This then
has to be cancelled to remove it.
On my last computer which also ran the same platform the schedule was the
same however it didn't leave the restore window on the desktop, any
suggestions to stop this?

Thanks Wombat

Not an answer to your question, but don't you think you would be better
served by making a daily backup, instead of a daily restore point?

BTW: System Restore automatically creates a restore point every 24 hours
(in absolute time).

Hi Guys thanks for the time.
I don't think XP does what Leonard says it does, I also run a backup program
that backs up to a second hard drive, however I find it useful to have a
restore point when trying new software.
This is more of an annoyance than a problem.

"The utility runs in the background and automatically creates a restore
point when a trigger event occurs. Trigger events include application
installations, AutoUpdate installations, Microsoft Backup Utility
recoveries, unsigned- driver installations, and manual creations of
restore points. The utility also creates restore points once a day by
default."

Hi Leonard

Yes your right I have checked since this message and lo and behold there is
a restore point for almost every day, for some reason it missed a weekend.
Typical.
Thanks again.

A restore point is only created if the computer is switched on.
