XP is not built on DOS so there is no DOS for you to go to. What are you
looking to restore and does the machine boot to normal mode?

Windows XP is not based on DOS. This is the procedure to use:

Thank you for your response.. there is more to my problem.... I now have two
machines doing the exact same thing... When they go to the screen where you
can pick safe mode, it starts the safe mode, then reboots. I am wondering if
it is a virus. Two machines at the same time.. same type of machines.. same
image?
If I cannot get to safe mode from that menu.. is there any way to do a
restore from a DOS prompt.?

There is no DOS in XP. The only why to do what you want is booting the PC
with the XP CD and access the Recovery Console

Once at the recovery console, what do I do to restore... I believe these are
failed pushes of SP1 on XP
