Restore File Fails

When I attempt to select a file to restore I get this message: "Access is
denied. (0x80070005)." I tried 2 separate backups and I get the same message.

Ideas...

My post was just a bit sketchy on details, wasn't it :)

OK- Starting in VISTA's Backup and Restore center, I Select Restore Files (
as opposed to restore computer). Then I select either "Files from latest
backup" or "Files from an older backup"- it doesn't matter which one, one get
the same error mesage either way. Then I select Add files or Add Folders.
Again doesn;t matter whick one, I get same message. "An error occured. Access
is deniend. (0x80070005). Please close backup and try again."

The backup is stored on an external hard drive, drive Q. What is odd is that
I can use Windows Explorer and I can access and open the zip files. There are
hundreds of zip files that I have not had time to search yet for the
file/folder I am trying to restore- but I can indeed open the zip file.

I also tried manually Turn UAC OFF- no luck.

Thanks...

I have the same situation, except that backup is located on a local hard drive.

When I moved to Vista, I tested to make sure I could restore files from
backups, and I could. I'm not sure what changed.
