Restarting after closing program

EVERY TIME I close Word, I get a message that says "Word has stopped" which I
click Cancel. The another message pops up that says "Word is restarting".
After it restarts when I close out, it quits.
Even if I do not click "Cancel" and instead click "OK", the same thing
happens.
What the heck is going on? I have installed every update, download, etc., etc.

If you start Word in Safe mode (by holding Ctrl as you start the
application), then does the error message disappear? If so, the cause is
likely to be a macro in the Normal template or in an add-in. For more, see

I too see this behaviour exhibited.

brand new lenovo laptop , Vista Business and Office 2007....

Even in 'Safe' mode the behaviour occurs.

Interestingly I have found that if you close the documents BEFORE you close
Word it lessens , but does not remove the behaviour.

There is something veruy basic wrong here...

Any further thoughts?
