restart/logoff/shutdown freeze

My friends pc was hit by the sasser virus, we successfully deleted the virus
& patched the system & it seems to be running fine now except the system
freezes when i try to restart/logoff/ or shutdown. Even C-Alt-Del doesn't
work. Is there something wrong with the adminstrator account/profile??? or
????? Running windows 2000 pro c/w sp4.

Try System File Checker (sfc.exe /? for syntax). You may have missed
some damage sasser did.

Obtain this Hotfix from Microsoft.
