Resolution problems on NEC MultiSync LCD 1545V monitor

I have a NEC MultiSync LCD 1545V monitor that would normally display at 1024
x 768 resolution. Text and images mostly are displayed at that resolution,
but most icons (particularly those within windows and not on the desktop)
and PC games are displayed at 800 x 600 resolution. I have downloaded
monitor drivers from NEC, but a) Windows now mistakenly identifies my
monitor as a "1454V" monitor instead of a 1545V one, and b) they don't seem
to resolve the problem. (Windows refuses to roll them back or to install a
fresh download, claiming that "no better match" for the drivers can be
found.)

I had this problem licked once before, but I had to replace the hard drive,
so I'm back at square one. (Then again, I'm sure that downloading NEC
drivers figured in the solution that time, so that doesn't really help me.)
And, yes, the computer is set at 1024 x 768 resolution in the Display tab.
How can I get Windows to display everything properly?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi,

I think the problem is mostly rested on the vedio card drivers.
Try download and install the latest XP compatible drivers for your vedio card.

Thanks, Peter. Unfortunately, my card's a nVidia Riva TNT Model 64, and the
latest driver I can find on the internet for it is back in 1998. Any
suggestions?

Interesting. I have a NEC MultiSync LCD1525V. You'd think my monitor
is older than yours. I have no idea what driver I'm using, but it
seems to work fine. No resolution problems here. I'm running XP
Home.
