RESIZING WINDOWS

A

Hello everyone,

how can I set up my system so that when I open links in web pages etc,
they open at a decent size? At the moment when I follow a link or open
IE7 I have to keep dragging the page to increase its size for viewing.
I am finding this quite annoying to say the least! I think I did
something the other day by right clicking the taskbar and selected
cascade windows or something like that and have had aggravation ever
since.

Surely it is a simple thing to sort out - I just lack the know how!

Please Help!!!

Hi Alan--

Meredith included a link from Help and Help is invaluable and was terribly
underused in XP and will be ignored to a huge extent by Vista end users and
that is a shame because on some of the more tricky tasks in Vista, it's
doing a good job and it is going to get better according to that team in a
chat months ago.

But I think what you're after is the fact that "popunders" often can mess
with the Window size you are comfortable with and that's annoying. It used
to be that if you controllled popups, you could minimize this but people
want to get their ads in your face so they resort to popunders and this can
change Window size on the fly.

So...

When this happens, hit Ctrl +N and make another window. Then with both of
the Windows manually resize them by dragging the sides to where you want.
Then close from the X or File and while doing so, hold down the Ctrl button
and Window size will be remembered but a pop under could change this. Then
if a window size alters repeat what I gave you. You will have the Window
size you want every time. This applies to IE windows and Windows Explorer
or folder windows as well.

Good luck,

CH
