Resize/align blocks in Vertical Block List

Tony Girgenti

Hello.

Using MS Office 2007 Powerpoint for Windows

Is there a way to select all of the boxes in a Vertical Block List so that
they can all be made the same size and to align all of them so that the right
hand edges are aligned and all blocks have the same amount of distance
between them?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Tony

Hello Echo.

There is a "Reset Graphic" button, but it just puts everything back to it's
original state, but that does not help.

I want to change the size and alignment of all the blocks in the Vertical
Block List and make all the blocks equidistant.

Thanks,
Tony

I think they should all be the same size. You might hit the Reset SmartArt
button that's on one of the SmartArt Tools tabs and see if that takes care
of it.

Are they different sizes because you have different amounts of text?

You can press Shift and click to select multiple shapes in the SmartArt and
grab the edges and resize objects together. But there's not a size dialog or
arrange options to use in the SmartArt diagrams -- because if you have to do
all that, then you take away the "smartness" of the diagram.

You can ungroup the diagram. You must have SP2 installed. If you have that
installed, then you can right-click and choose Ungroup. Then do that
again -- so you ungroup twice. Now you can modify the shapes.

If you don't have SP2 installed, then Ctrl+X to cut the diagram, Paste
Special (under Paste on the Home tab) and choose EMF. Then right-click and
ungroup twice. Resize/reposition at will.

You're welcome.

I'm surprised things are out of alignment and different sizes in the
SmartArt diagram in the first place. That seems to be part of the smarts of
a SmartArt -- it adjusts everything to accommodate the text in all the
objects....
