Resize a linked spreadsheet from Excel in PowerPoint, font isbad

I have linked Excel Spreadsheets from Excel to Powerpoint to make a
presentation, but when I resize the spreadsheet to make it fit in Powerpoint,
the fonts get messed up. They look garbled and the spacing is not right;
some letters are too far apart and others are crunched together. Thanks for
your help.

This happens because:

- Excel is designed to hold tons of data.
- PowerPoint works best with a few lines on a slide.

Try creating a more abridged version of the data and place it in another
worksheet -- then link to that.

For more detailed display of the original data, activate the link, and show
the original data sheet.

In addition to Geetesh's suggestions, don't distort the spreadsheet when you
resize it. To ensure it's proportional, don't drag it on the slide to
resize -- instead, right-click, choose Format Object, and resize using the
tools on the Size tab.

Thanks for your suggestions! My problem seems to be more of a resizing
issue, so I'll see if this works in my presentation. Thanks again.

Hi,

I tried the resizing option that Echo S suggested, but I don't seem to be
able to make it work in my situation. The main problem seems to be the small
fonts (like footnotes, captions, etc.) that are distorted when put into
powerpoint. Is there a way to format the picture itself or is there another
solution?

Does the spreadsheet have to be linked, or is an image enough? If an image
works, copy the cells in Exel, then Edit | Paste Special in PowerPoint.
Choose an image type -- I tend to lean toward EMF if I need vector graphics
so they don't blur when scaled larger -- or sometimes PNG if it's available
and I don't need vector.

Thanks for your response. Yes, it is essential that the changes in Excel
show up in the presentation. I will try your suggestion to see if that works
though. Thanks!
