Resetting slides after returning to them

G

Guest

I have a presentation setup in which I jump slides a lot. I have found that
when I go from slide A to slide D, then back to slide A, the animations for A
have already run through and are as I left them. I do not want this.
Is there a way of setting all, or specified, animations to be reset and run
through a second time upon return to thast slide from a later one?

Also, I have a reset button that runs the presentation again from the
beginning without exiting first. Because of this, the same thing happens, all
animations have already run through.
Can I make this button set the whole presentation back to normal upon
clicking on it?

Thanks!

What you need to do, is to insert a blank slide with zero transition times,
before the slide you want to link back to, and link back to the blank slide.
When you come back to a slide, PowerPoint opens the slide, after all the events
are completed.

Thanks for the quick and helpful reply!

No way of setting only specific animations to play though again?

Another question: Is there a way to set the mouse pointer to visible by
default?

And also, is there a way of totally disabling all navigation between slides
except for action buttons that I set? (this includes clicking on the screen,
arrow buttons, etc.)

Thanks!

Thanks for all your help!

The adding a blank slide before idea works except for one thing, it messes
up that slides navigation for going back to the previously viewed slide.
Anyone know a way around this?

BTW, I found out about the mouse and navigation questions I asked, I use
Kiosk mode!

Set up the slide show as View at Kiosk. Only your action buttons will
work and the Esc key.

No way of setting only specific animations to play though again? Not without some tricky VBA, and I'm not even certain about that. I am
certain though that I'm not going to try that (g)

I don't think so.

The blank slide idea works except for one thing...

When I go back to slide A (which is the blank slide before B) it works, but
then C doesn't. I don't want to have to put a blank slide before ever slide,
so what can I do?

You will have to insert a blank slide in front of every slide you want to link
back to. If you think that this is a required and important feature that you
would like to see in PowerPoint, then I suggest you leave your suggestion at the

I put a blank slide before the ones I was linking to, but the ones that
automatically come after them also seem to need a blank slide before them,
although I'm not linking to them directly...
I will let Microsoft know, thanks!

As long as your not linking to a slide, the next slide in succession should play
as originally designed.

Do you have all the updates to 2003? I created a presentation with all kinds of
links animations etc. and they all work repeatedly for me. If you presentation
is not overly large, and contains sensitive information, I would not mind having
a look at it, to see if I can determine what is going on. My email is
