Hi Jim

Try these programs to check for any spyware that may be on your system:

Ad-Aware - www.lavasoftusa.com
Spybot - http://www.safer-networking.org/
CWShredder - http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html

Also see the following link:

stop using IE. I think it's a good fast browser but it's such a virus
minefield now it's not worth using anymore. MS doesn't seem to give a shit
about it either, no new versions in like a year

Now that's a wonderful idea. Since obviously some unsafe surfing has taken
place and as a result some spyware has been installed, advise him to stop
using IE. adaware and spybot combined with a good virus scan and a change
in settings to keep such things happening in the first place. MS has
released a patch for every problem that hackers have caused, but they "don't
give a shi*" according to you.

Not only is it a virus minefield, as you rightly put it, but it is
obsolete. Microsoft has had no reason to improve it for years, and
they haven't. They are only now working on improvements, and the
sole reason is because they are getting afraid of Mozilla, which
is a superior browser in every respect.

The problem is, dunderheads want to surf without any hinderances
or troubles of any kind. They leave everything turned on in IE and
then come here and whine when they get a virus or malware. Hey,
idiots! Yes, I'm talking to you! It is *not safe* to use IE in its
default mode. You CANNOT trust Microsoft to protect you.

They have to realize that some Web sites are irresponsibly written
to only work with the default settings in IE. These sites are
*poison* because they encourage people who don't have a clue to
leave IE that way for general Web surfing. They might as well play
hop scotch on the train tracks.

The ONLY answer is to stop using Internet Explorer. How long is it
going to take before this obvious truth filters down to the plebs?
