Hi, I have had this error for 7days ever since I removed Kazaa from my
computer, I have reset winsock, tcpip, flushed dns, disabled firewall,
stopped all virus checking and removed any other programs that were
loaded onto my computer without my knowledge etc, I am starting to
think that I will have to reformat my whole drive.

I can ping my isp ip address but not their dns or any dns for that
matter. If I know an ip address that page will come up and I cannot
copy any of the software to disc as this is a work terminal and disc
drives are not available.

Anyone have any other suggestions, if not can someone advise me on the
safest manner to reformat my computer as I haven't had to do this
before.

Thanks

Hi, yes I ran Hijack This and checked the log and there were no
spyware/hijackware. I printed the log and showed it to some of the IT
guys here who say it all looks fine except for a few files that were
missing, which I checked and fixed.

I am on XP, with a wireless internet connection via Ethernet. The IT
guys are saying I should contact my ISP as they should give me access
to their DNS server, so I will call them again and see if this is
correct. Although when I rang them on Sunday they said it sounded more
like a corrupt dns file.

Thanks

Kazaa leaves spyware on the system after it has been removed, use some other
program like www.xoftspy.com and their spyware scanner. Kazaa actually seems
to write a spyware entry in just as it's being uninstalled. Hijack this is an
excellent program, but use it in conjunction with xoftspys scanner. I'm sure
Xoftspy will show up some spyware. Following this, can you run ipconfig from
the command prompt and paste in the IP addresses that come up, just to check
it's not an issue with the wifi?

I'd humbly suggest that you post the log to one of the forums I cited
earlier, Rhaps.

Have you tried KazaaBegone?

You'll probably need to "reset winsock" after running it.
