requesting virus scan

Any time I bring up a Word Document I have to wait for the
until "requesting a virus scan" completes for the document
to open.

This happens even when Norton System Works is disabled.

I'm guessing that it is Norton Anti-Virus that does this and that
evidently it's not controlled by Norton Systems Works. Read more in the
manual or help files for these products to figure out they work together.

Meantime, look in your System Tray for Norton Anti-Virus icon. If there,
click on it, then Options Tab, then Other/Miscellaneous and uncheck
"Enable Office Plug-in".

If you can't find Norton Anti-Virus, then it's another anti-virus
program running which is doing this. Nothing in Word does this on it's own.
