Repository Roots

The whole thing about repository roots is a little confusing. I've now got a
clean fresh setup with no third party anything. Previous I chucked all my
stuff in the default rep roots. ( Bad practice I know )

I've got a previously working component I want to enter into the database
and I want it to be in it's own Rep' Root, so I can keep all my own stuff
separate from the in-built Microsoft stuff.

I can't work out which order to do things. My components define their
repositories but everything is getting chucked into the default roots, and
still doesn't work.

Obviously things are not getting pointed in the right way. The help files
are so vague that I can't make heads nor tails on the best practice and order
to use.

Can you please advise?

You need to create a new Repository in the SLD and then map the component
via the settings page to the new Repository. Don't select one of the
repositoris that come with XPe.

Windows XP Embedded Advanced Chapter 6 last exercise covers setting up a
repository.

OK, I've managed to make a rep root that doesn't use the in-built reps.
All I need to do now is remember the steps I used to get there, because I
tried many things.

Cheers Sean.

PS: You online store doesn't have that book listed as for sale.

Good deal. You can get the XPe Advanced book on Amazon.com, but my SP2 book
is available from my website.
