Replying to Newgroups (USENET)

Dave Lee

I use Vista Mail as my primary USENET client. For years when using Outlook
Express (and later Vista Mail) as my USENET client occasionally when I would
reply to a posting, the post that I would reply to would not get a ">" added
to each line or the post that I am replying to. It didn't happen often, so
I didn't care much.

Over the last couple of weeks it now seems that the vast majority of posts
that I reply to do not get a ">" added to the post when I do a "Reply
Group". Does anyone know what, if anything, has changed recently? I am
up-to-date with Vista changes as far as I know.

When you come across a post like that, look at the full headers
(Ctrl+F3). If it says something like "quoted-printable" format,
Windows Mail is unable to indent it with the > character.
Its a known bug that also exists in OE.
That bug has been fixed in Windows Live Mail.

Re: Attached

Thanks, Gary. I guess this is reason #3 to go to Windows Live Mail. Not sure
how many I need to get me off my lazy butt and do it :)

Going forward, WLM is where the action is going to be, so
you might as well get on the bandwagon now. :)
