Reply opens minimized

Windows recently downloaded a bunch of updates and re-started my computer.
Since then, Windows Mail opens minimized every time I reply to a message. I
hit reply and a minimized window appears at the bottom of my screen. I have
to right-click and check maximize to type my response. Irritating. I looked
in Tools/Options for a fix but came up empty. Does anyone know how to get
Windows Mail to open maximized when replying?

Have you tried opening a new mail and then using file>close or right
click close and then the X close (Whichever options you have available -
not sure) and then try again?

It sounds like it just needs a window size and placement to "Remember"
and maybe exiting after "Send" isn't doing that.

Try the old trick of opening it, resizing it just a little smaller then
SHIFT and click the X to close it (or was it CTRL and click the X to close
it).

Whichever, try it then reopen them.

Good suggestions, but problem persists. I'm unable to resize the window
because the resizing button restores the minimize, so whether I click
minimize or resize it minimizes. And the window extends slightly beyond the
edge of my screen, so I can't grab the side to resize.

Thanks for the suggestion. I am unable to resize because the resize button
restores the minimization, so hitting either the minimize button or restore
button minimizes the screen. The maximized edge is slightly beyond the edge
of my computer, so I can't grab it to resize the window. Is there another way
to resize a window?

Open a reply.
Drag the edges to the size you want.
Close all other windows.
Close the resized window.

right click on the button on the taskbar and select Size and manually size
it smaller.

Thank you. Problem is that the edges extend slightly beyond the end of my
screen, so I can not drag the edges. And the size option is greyed out when I
right-click on the resize button.

Can you set it to the "normal" size, i.e. the middle button on the upper right corner should be
just one square, and then drag the window so that the lower right corner is within view? then
you should be able to grab the corner and resize the window, also when there is only one
square in the middle button the right click menu does not gray out the size option.

HIt the Max button in the upper right corner.

Does it change it's icon from one to two squares?

I too am having this problem with all "reply, reply all and forwards". Can
only see message in bottom toolbar and have to left click and maximize it.
Have tried everything. Microsoft and Gateway both blame each other so no help
there. Am reading all replies here but still can't fix it. Please keep me in
the loop! Many thanks.

Once I maximize the reply, there are two squares in the middle box. However,
I can't get it to one square as that again minimizes it. And I can't grab the
corners. I notice on the bottom left corner when I maximize it a bar has
"edit, source and preview". I cannot click on edit. Keep those thoughts
coming please. I think we are really close.

Normally,if you have a window in normal size (one box), you can right click on
the program's Taskbar area and choose Size which will turn the cursor to cross
shaped, then used the appropriate arrow key to move the cursor to whichever side
you want to adjust and then use the appropriate arrow to increase or decrease
the size of that edge, or you can choose Move which will allow you to move the
window with the keyboard arrow keys; however neither of these seem not to work
in WinMail's message windows.

Did you ever get this fixed. If so, how please. I have been searching forever
for a fix. Gateway and Microsoft disavow all knowledge of course. It's a
"It's not our fault" battle.

Instead of using Maximise, click on the borders, and when you get a
double-headed arrow, drag them to the edge of the screen.
